Luxury Stall Rest: American Stalls
We all have our favorite aesthetic when it comes to our dream barn. Design and functionality always tops the list when it comes to our stalls. I personally love an open top stall front so my guys can stick their heads out. Given the chance to design your own barn, what elements would you choose? Who would you hire to help you build it out? We caught up with Yash Balasaria from American Stalls to learn a little bit more about the process and how American Stalls , a company making a name for itself in equestrian design, came to [...]

SPA DAY
No, it's not your horse prepping for the next Burning Man. It's also not his/her latest in equine Halloween Costumes. It's a therapeutic treatment called PEMF. We had a wonderful opportunity to meet with Natalie Rietkerk of Triple Crown PEMF, a business she takes on the road to provide therapy for all types of horses from all kinds of disciplines. She even does backyard ponies like ours. So Natalie came out to show us how Smoochy our OTTB might benefit from a treatment. Without spoiling the story, I will say my almost 'senior' boy acts like he's a 4 year [...]

Step up with StepRite Plus
So many supplements. Where to begin? I find that starting with questions is a good place to start. I was hanging out over at GrandView Farms at LAEC and was watching my friend Trainer Karen Perlow doing her feeding buckets. I noticed a supplement I was not familiar with and asked her why StepRite? To me it sounded like something that could benefit my boy Cash who was showing signs of creakiness left over from his past days as a barrel horse before we acquired him. She explained she had started using Steprite on one of her show ponies and [...]
Life’s all Bleach
Wait what? Yes, you heard me. The world has taken a turn. I'm sure there's not one person out there who would disagree that their daily grind now involves some form of bleach. At home we use it. We're using it at the barn. I'm dizzy from the smell of bleach everywhere. Well, there are alternatives. I'm not saying that bleach is bad. I love bleach, you can't go wrong with bleach. I'm just saying I can't stand the smell anymore. Here are some basic alternatives and DIY add-ons that will still keep the dreaded Covid _19 at bay and [...]

Everyone needs a pony head wreath right?
Alrighty, everyone knows that our Lifestyle editor Maddy Pasqualini is our go-to for anything decor or crafty oriented. However, since she decided to head to NY for holiday inspiration we had to rely upon a hand-full of websites to come up with this supposedly easy to perform DIY so that you can make your own Horse Head Wreath. Our selection was easy, once the site mentioned heavy work gloves we kept on looking. We were able to come across what seems to be an easy solution thanks to Garden Answer youtube video which required little crafty knowledge beyond the use [...]
HOLIDAY HACKS
Let's start with some fun and easy basics you probably have around the barn or if you're like me, they are in a box in the garage. Today was Farrier day and it got me thinking. As I was watching the discarded shoes fly into the corner, I had a spark of genius go to Pinterest and see what people are doing with their old horse shoes! Surely there are some holiday hacks? There definitely was. Here's some quick easy ideas I picked up. Feel free to be creative and make them your own! For those "craftys" who were kind [...]

Lord of the Flies
Okay, in case you haven't heard, there's a heatwave going on in Los Angeles and in parts of the United States and it's not fun. It's especially unnerving when your constantly battling fly control in your barns. Now, some of us are lucky enough to have some sort of fly spray system in our fancy barns....I'm not one of those people. We have a small 4 horse stand alone barn in a horse community built roughly in the early 40s. It's not fancy. It has nice in and out with huge paddocks. Paddocks that are now swarming with pesky flies. [...]
These Leathers…..
Pravins Sellier and Millbrook Leathers have something pretty awesome going on. I had seen their stirrup leathers all over the Gram and I knew I had to give them a try. Apparently, the word on the street is that they help to stabilize your leg while schooling and jumping. Well, if a steady leg was the end result I was all about giving them a try. After a little reach out, the team at Millbrook was more than helpful in getting me some leathers. Now, do not be alarmed when you receive them as they may send you back into [...]

INCH in a pinch: CHEATA REVIEW
Okay it almost pains me to have to write reviews on body slimming compression products during summer. They're usually hot, sticky, hard to get into and don't even get me started on the getting out process. BUT I was happy to write about it when I tried on the CHEATA compression garments. They were comfortable, breathable and slimming and coming from a woman who is a little top heavy the compression TROTTER BRA was the perfect solution. The construction smoothed out my lumps and gave me the support I needed without limiting my range of movement or in my case [...]
