Santa Anita Park Transformed
There we stood at Santa Anita Park. It was strange seeing the Grandstands from the other side of the racetrack. Yes, the Great Race Place had been transformed as we knew it into a World Class Show Jumping facility. As the sun set, the bustle of the Splitrock Jumping Tour’s first $400,000 Longines FEI Jumping World Cup Qualifier Los Angeles CSI5*-W presented by Lugano Diamonds began while each of the 40 international professional riders walked the 1.60 course. It was a monumental moment and we were reminded that we were in store for a serious night of show jumping, entertainment [...]

GUCCI Is back Welcome Sabato De Sarno
For the last, ya know I don't even remember when began not 'getting' the new Gucci. I mean bravo for bringing the logo, the stripes and the iconic bit loafer and riding boot back but beyond that none of it made sense to me. Clearly, I wasn't hip enough. But that's neither here nor there. Enter the debut show for Sabato De Sarno. Now Gucci once again makes sense to me and probably many other GenXers who wore all of the thrift store Gucci looking crap back in the 90s and vowed never to do that 'look' ever again, hence [...]
Karl looking like a Million bucks!
Karl Cook (USA) stands atop the podium with riders Mario Deslauriers (CAN) and Kent Farrington (USA) , pictured with Michael Hankin and the team from Brown Advisory. ( Photo by High Desert Sport Photo Karl Cook (USA) was looking to make history at Desert International Horse Park (DIHP). Fate almost stepped in the way of him etching his name as the very first on the Coachella Cup, a new Waterford trophy presented to the winner of the inaugural $1 Million CSI5* Coachella Cup Grand Prix, presented by Brown Advisory. But his strength and determination carried him through the [...]
Astonishment:Hermès in Camargue
Imagine a scene like this: Manadiers wrangle a herd of galloping Camargue horses through a marshland before you. The sound of their thundering hooves resonate in your soul. Should we add a sunset dropping onto the horizon for a poetic touch? Should the horses gallop off into it? Yes Please. This may sound like a brain session between writers making the next epic film but no, just Pierre Alexis Dumas, the artistic director for Hermès being Dumas. “Astonishment is a human quality: it’s the ability to wonder, to surprise ourselves, and to reinvent ourselves.” So said Pierre-Alexis Dumas, artistic director of [...]

LIFE IS GOOD
Welcome to Pegasus World Cup 2022 where the horses run and the party runneth over. The yearly event is a Thoroughbred horse race open to horses aged four years and older and takes place in sunny Hallandale Florida at Gulfstream Park. The winner of the race earns a $3 million (£ 2.2m) prize. It is named after the horse of Greek origin of which a statue stands outside Gulfstream Park which sets the perfect vibe for watching racing and experiencing what Florida has to offer on a regular day so it's no wonder Pegasus has become one of the most [...]
Beach Please. Miami Beach Polo rules.
Someone say Beach Polo? I'm in. Granted, It took two days to recover from the travel across the US but I highly recommend the sojourn to anyone who loves horses, fashion, beaches and of course the sport of Polo. World Polo League Beach Polo knows how to roll out an event and it was amazing. The tournament takes place over 3 days on the sands of South Beach between 21st and 22nd street. On the last day of play they include a charitable match this year for Give Back for Special Equestrians. All 3 days are filled with some of [...]
Quick guide to POLO
Polo, where do we start? Well, it's not just a clothing brand donned by Nacho Figueras. Great place to start though. The vision doesn't suck. The game itself is the perfect combination of power, balance, coordination, quick decision making, strategy and skill. I mean in a nutshell you are trying to hit a tiny rolling ball on a moving horse with a 4 foot long mallet while your opponent is trying to prevent you from doing so. Polo is athleticism and horsemanship at it's best. It's a sport all on it's own. It's challenging, complicated and takes a ton of [...]
Talk Derby 2020
So the year has been rather blah. We can admit it. The Derby didn't run in May, The Belmont ran first and here on Labor day weekend we are celebrating the Derby without fans just private invites. All of this pandemic chaos aside, we still have some amazing horses racing towards that garland of roses. Here's where the racers stand today. Finnick the Fierce and King Guillermo scratched. So it looks as if there will be a 16 horse field. Tiz the Law came in this morning with 3-5 odds on winning. I love everything about this horse but I [...]

In the context of the exceptional current public health situation, Hermès is obliged to cancel the Saut Hermès at the Grand Palais 2020. The event, which has been an unmissable fixture in the international equestrian calendar for more than ten years, was [...]
Pegasus World Cup goes Medication Free

Everyone’s a Winner at MCHS
Everyone's a winner! It was a fantastic show week at the Menlo Charity Horse Show. We had such a great time meeting up with old friends and making new ones. This show is laden with tradition and pomp that truly takes you on board for a luxury driven show experience that benefits a charity. The show takes place at the historic private membership grounds of the Menlo Park Circus Club in the Silcon Valley + Bay Area of Northern California. The Club, started in 1920s by a group a children, yes you read correctly, was originally the location for a [...]
Menlo Charity Horse Show selects Artist for 2019
Menlo Charity Horse Show has announced that Sharon Lynn Campbell will be the Artist of the Year for 2019. Campbell's "Menlo Blue" will be seen across publications and sites promoting the up coming charity show next month in Menlo Park California. “It was a pleasure painting Menlo Blue" said Campbell. "I really wanted a pose that shows a moment between horse and rider. After all the hard work is completed, picking up the blue ribbon is a great reward, a time for a nice pat on the neck, a smile and a feeling of accomplishment.” Campbell's work can be seen [...]
Talk DERBY to me
We have our own version of Game of Thrones going on here this weekend as two of the biggest names in Derby talk go head to head. So, here's everything you needed to know about the Kentucky Derby in general and the day itself will prove to be exciting. Me, I'm a huge Mike Smith and Baffert fan, but since they are on opposite teams this year I think I may go with a longer shot, Tacitus. Anyway, The Kentucky Derby has been raced since 1875 so I'm just going to go down the list and hope you don't poop out before [...]

It’s a Roundup! Part 1
Whether it's a night with your honey or a date with your bestie we can all agree this holiday is somewhat antiquated yes? Can we just go back to passing paper cutouts with suckers as gifts back and forth like we did in grade school? So, I made an executive decision to do a roundup that not only benefited your loves, but possibly may benefit you as well. Now, the term "loves" can serve as your mate, your date, your bestie or your pony. There are no rules here. And I'm not going to give it some stupid name like [...]
