    SoCali Equestrian

It’s exciting when you come across a brand and their product is just as wonderful as the people who run the business. I had an immediate connection with SoCali Equestrian after just a few interactions with the company’s lovely co-owners Erin Whitmore and Nancy Choy. So, it’s not too surprising that their love for the equestrian sport and horses comes through in their products. Where to start. Well, a little background on this small but mighty women owned online equestrian boutique. It all started two years ago when two friends based in southern California decided there needed to be a [...]

    Dior’s Magical Spring 2021

I've always been a fan of Tarot since I was a young adolescent. I remember holding and playing with an old deck of my older sisters. My girlfriends and I would ask questions and then I'd refer to the old tattered instruction manual that came with the deck as to make sure we were laying the cards out correctly and reading the prophecies in which they bestowed accurately. The readings came naturally to me after a while and my mother told me of my aunt who use to tell fortunes with a deck of playing cards at well heeled cocktail [...]

    Talk Derby 2020

So the year has been rather blah. We can admit it. The Derby didn't run in May, The Belmont ran first and here on Labor day weekend we are celebrating the Derby without fans just private invites. All of this pandemic chaos aside, we still have some amazing horses racing towards that garland of roses. Here's where the racers stand today. Finnick the Fierce and  King Guillermo scratched. So it looks as if there will be a 16 horse field. Tiz the Law came in this morning with 3-5 odds on winning. I love everything about this horse but I [...]

    Step up with StepRite Plus

So many supplements. Where to begin? I find that starting with questions is a good place to start. I was hanging out over at GrandView Farms at LAEC and was watching my friend Trainer Karen Perlow doing her feeding buckets. I noticed a supplement I was not familiar with and asked her why StepRite? To me it sounded like something that could benefit my boy Cash who was showing signs of creakiness left over from his past days as a barrel horse before we acquired him. She explained she had started using Steprite on one of her show ponies and [...]

    Lana goes Horsey

If we could just post every photoshoot where Steven Klein uses horses it would be lovely. We should probably do a feature on him in a future issue. He'd make a fabulous cover story. Well anyway we're just gonna go all fashion gone rogue on this and we're gonna start posting editorials we love featuring equestrian style and horses. There ya go. Executive decision made under boredom. Enjoy. Lana Del Rey   takes the spotlight on the Fall Preview 2017 cover of V Magazine. Lensed by Steven Klein, the singer wears a Ralph Laurent jacket with a Saint Laurent shirt and [...]

    Life’s all Bleach

Wait what?  Yes, you heard me. The world has taken a turn.  I'm sure there's not one person out there who would disagree that their daily grind now involves some form of bleach.  At home we use it. We're using it at the barn. I'm dizzy from the smell of bleach everywhere. Well, there are alternatives. I'm not saying that bleach is bad. I love bleach, you can't go wrong with bleach. I'm just saying I can't stand the smell anymore.  Here are some basic alternatives and DIY add-ons that will still keep the dreaded Covid _19 at bay and [...]

Consequently, the eleventh Saut Hermès at the Grand Palais, due to take place in Paris from 20 to 22 March 2020, is cancelled.   In the context of the exceptional current public health situation, Hermès is obliged to cancel the Saut Hermès at the Grand Palais 2020. JUMP for Hermès

Everyone knows we are huge Hermès fans here. We try to implement their style into our fashion shoots, we have featured the luxury brand numerous times and we follow their Coversations in Movement video series as well. As equestrians, it's official we all covet Hermès. It was exciting to see our favorite house playing homage to the sport by lining the entrance to the runway with jumper poles. It was even more fun to see the play on the jumper colors and poles in the new collection.  Without a doubt, if you're an equestrian you can find folly in the [...]

    CHANEL need we say more?

So it's nice to see a little equestrian flowing off the runways. The jockey boot is a very nice touch, and we all know how Milton Menasco feels about polka dotted tights! So, it looks like Chanel is point on in our Equestrian community. Bravo! Thanks for listening Chanel. hahaha #parisfashionweek

    Hermès Conversations in Movement #1

We are loving these intimate insights between riders. Whether established champions or young hopefuls, Hermès partner riders share a love of the sport and the horse that is so dear to the house. Lightness, generosity, humility and determination – Hermès riders share their philosophy of horsemanship. In this first episode, Jessica von Bredow-Werndl, the German dressage rider, and Karen Polle, the young show-jumping hopeful, discuss the art of lightness through a bareback riding exercise. #HermèsSellier
